The pipe organ in the choir loft was built by Art Schmeltekopf. Art was an atmospheric scientist retired from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, but he had a great love of music and particularly organ music. He began building the organ while he worked at NOAA in Boulder.
Otto Hoffman, an organ builder in Austin, Texas, was the consultant for the project and pipes and console were ordered from Germany in 1965. Art began building the first wind chests in his basement and by fall much of the organ had been set up in his garage. With the help of many church members the organ was dedicated in 1967. The organ has 2 manuals and pedals, 39 ranks and 31 stops. It is mechanical action. The St. Andrew Celtic Ensemble is a group of singers and instrumentalists who lead the congregation in Celtic worship and prayer periodically throughout the year in the 10:30 a.m. worship service. For information, contact the Pastor, Stan Adamson, by calling the church office. |
Zimbelstern Donated to St Andrew Linda Johnson and Robert Farr recently donated a Zimbelstern to St Andrew Church in honor of the church's 50th Anniversary.
