St Andrew Presbyterian Church, Boulder, CO

A Congregation for Peace and Justice

Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy...  For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day. (Exodus 20.8, 11)

Now that day was the Sabbath...  And Jesus answered them, "My Father is still working, and I also am working."  (John 5.9b, 17)

Sunday Worship and Fellowship

In 2011, St. Andrew offers two worship services, at 9:00 and 10:30, following September 11, 2011, along with Christian Education opportunities for all ages.  In the summer, from May 22 through September 11, 2011, we have one 9:30 am Summer Service. Outdoor Services will be held in 2011 on the June 5, July 10 and 24, August 21 (Blessing of the Animals) and September 11. Holy Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of each month. Starting November 20, 2011 and continuing through January 1, 2012, there will be one worship service each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Adult Church School continues at 9 a.m. The 9 a.m. worship service will resume January 8, 2012.

Children and Youth are an important part of our worship life every Sunday. Young people often lead different aspects of worship.  See the Children and Youth Ministry page for information about their special opportunities in education and worship.

Our Adult Choir sings from the Choir Loft during the 10:30 service from September through May. See the Music Ministry page for additional information. In the Fall of 2005 we added a Celtic Ensemble of vocalists and instrumentalists who lead worship periodically in the Celtic vein in the 10:30 service.

Sunday Education

Children's Christian Education

A Children's Sermon is offered every Sunday morning in the later Worship Service (10:30; 9:30 a.m. during the summer). Children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for an interactive, fun message related to the day's Scripture. Children leave for Sunday School following this time of nurture.

St. Andrew’s Children's Sunday School program is very interactive.  Children engage the same Biblical stories on Sunday mornings that parents are hearing in worship.  Sunday School is a time to be active, to learn about God, and to grow together as part of a church family.  Infants and toddlers are invited to join Suzanne and other adult leaders in the nursery for fun and age appropriate activities.  Kindergarten though 5th graders are welcome to join the Sunday School classes.  For more information about Sunday School, click on the "Sunday School" link to the left.

Adult Christian Education

YOUNGER ADULT GROUP: a fellowship and discussion group for younger adults, facilitated by Molly Gibney, Brooks Meador and Isaac Vimont (if you don't know these people, that's why we need a group!). A relaxed atmosphere for young singles, newly married and parents of very young children. Coffee, snacks and great conversation will help us get to know each other, our faith, and the challenges and opportunities we face together. CHILD CARE WILL BE PROVIDED. Meets at 9 a.m. starting September 18 in Room 28, upstairs at the east end of the Education Wing.

Watch for our weekly emails for more info prior to the launch of these new classes!

ADULT STUDY GROUP (formerly "Life Issues") will focus on the theme of "Justice" in the Fall of 2011, beginning with two Sundays led by Ted Floyd (September 18 and 25) on biblical justice. These will be followed by presentations by our own Dick Grosz and therapist Jack Lavino on "The Power of Forgiveness," a series on "A New Day in the PCUSA," including at least one presentation by the Rev. Dr. Dan Saperstein, our Presbytery Executive; a couple of presentations on "Civil Discourse and the Common Good," including one featuring the Rev. Dr. Jim Ryan, Executive Director of the Colorado Council of Churches; and a series of presentations on "Immigration Issues in Christian Perspective." The full schedule will be available soon. This class will meet at 9 a.m. in room 28A, at the east end of the Education Wing.
Click on Adult Study Group Schedule for a list of topics and presenters.

Bible Video Class meets in our Parlor. Lew and Gerry lead a discussion based on fascinating videos that probe the Bible, using history and archaelogy.  All adults (middle school aged and older) are invited to participate!  Click on the Video Schedule for a list of video presentations.

Youth Christian Education

The St. Andrew Youth Group invites all young people from 6th through 12th Grades to live the joy of Christ by doing justice, showing compassion, and walking humbly with God. We meet after worship on Sundays (11:30 - 1pm) for a time of food, fellowship, and fun as we explore our faith.

Sunday Mornings youth are invited to help teach the Children's Sunday School, participate in the Life Issues Sunday School or Bible Video class, or join the Choir.

Nursery Care

For children three years old and younger, our professionally staffed Nursery is open during all Sunday morning worship and educational programs.  Suzanne and her co-workers are fantastic!
